You Know It’s Almost Break When…

#sol21- December 7, 2021

At school:

  • It is time for goodbye- a student from last year is moving and today was his last day:( A student from this year is leaving early for the break so that his parents can get both their vaccines in Japan- he left today.
  • Four square is getting a bit out of control- bad words, lack of fair play, and more are making four square a bit of a hot spot lately- today was a real doozy!-
  • Focus is getting a bit blurry (or is that just me?).
  • The wifi keeps dying.
  • There are piles everywhere!

At home:

  • I am getting the urge to bake.
  • I am spending time loading up my Kindle rather than what I should be doing.
  • I am I am saving junk TV to my Netflix watch list.
  • I am thinking about starting holiday shopping.
  • I am so homesick- it has been 2 1/2 years since I was last in the US (and hopefully I will get back for a visit in June).
  • There are piles everywhere!

I am not usually the countdown to break kind of person, but I can tell you we have 7 1/2 school days (and 1/2 a day is Sports Day) and I will definitely be ready for that last bell to ring. Meanwhile, I am trying to focus on the joys of teaching- I really do enjoy this class and we have lots of great stuff going on right now.

  1. I hear you. I’m not usually counting down either, but looking forward is sometimes the only way through. Good luck with your last few days.

  2. Your list sums up the many different moods of wrapping up before a vacation or a holiday. So many different emotions. I do hope you can get back to the US in June – big prayers for that one!

  3. I am right there with you on almost all of these. We’ve had so many kids leave early for break for the same reason as you – they haven’t seen family since 2019. We finish on the 17th and I can’t wait.

  4. 2.5 years!?!?! Oh my gosh, that’s an eternity. When do you anticipate going back for a visit?

While I know the four square situations aren’t funny, there’s something about it that brought me right back to too-rough games of four square in elementary school. I wonder if those happened before school breaks…
